THEME: Understanding the times.

TOPIC: The coming of the Lord

TEXTS: 1 Chronicles 12: 32; Matthew 24: 4-21

32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

Aim: To teach us the need to understand our own times in order to know what we ought to do at any time and to be in control of every circumstance.

INTRODUCTION

Our world today has become a battlefield. The world has become too religious and the Christians are becoming too worldly. The Christians at this time should think things through before they allow it. So that they are not carried away or being deceived by the world; Prov 14: 8. The world now has become the survival of the fittest. The children of Issachar understood the times and knew what the Israelites ought to do in the face of war.

We are in perilous times; it calls to mimic the lives of Berean Christians; Acts 17:10-13. It becomes necessary to seek the will of God in everything we do. This will help us not to conform to the standard of the World. We are also in the time of “monkey dey work, Baboon dey chop”. This is the time to cry to God to save us Isa 22: 12-14. Let’s be aware that all these happenings in our own time are pointers towards the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
