INTRODUCTION
Today is the First Sunday in Epiphany. It
signifies the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the
Magi in Matthew 2:1-12. Our study texts reveal that the scriptures are given by
inspiration of God (2Tim. 3:16-17), and it is the source of our knowledge of Him.
The pages of the Bibles are the authoritative revelation in written form of
God’s nature and purposes. Clearly, through the scriptures, we have the
knowledge of God.
STUDY GUIDE
1. With reference to our text, how can you
explain the scriptures as the means of God’s revelation? Ref Rom 15:4
2. As Christians, why must we constantly
study the word of God according to the following passages Psalm 119:105; Romans
10:17; James 1:23-25; 1Pt.2: 2;
3. Furthermore, according to Joshua 1:8,
what was God’s injunction and benefits to us in regards to the scriptures?
4. From contemporary experiences, how are
some people exploiting others with the scriptures?
CONCLUSION
The scripture is an inspired word of God
that contains the revelations of God. Our constant closeness to it will enlighten
us more on the knowledge and plans of God for our lives.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The mind and the will of
God is embedded in the scriptures.
MEMORY VERSE: 2Tim 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
